Whether you plan to have your jewellery insured or not, having photographs and a detailed description of your items is crucial.  Should there ever be a loss, the appraisal report will provide the information necessary to replace or recreate the item.

No. Appraisals are by appointment only.  During the appointment your jewellery will be assessed and all the necessary information will be collected. The items never have to leave your sight.  With the Mobile Gem Lab, appointments are scheduled in a location convenient for you.  AC Appraisals has access to offices in a variety of locations around the city of Ottawa.   

Using the latest microscope technology, clients can effortlessly see the features that make their jewellery unique.  These distinguishing features can be used later to ensure that the same item is returned to you.  This is beneficial if you are hesitant to leave your jewellery with your goldsmith for repairs.  Digital copies of the images can be provided for future reference.  

There are different insurance policies available depending on your needs.  Actual Cash Value policies are based on the appraised value and reflect the highest amount paid if a loss occurs.  Agreed Value policies pay a guaranteed amount if a loss occurs.  It is important that clients understand how their item will be replaced should there ever be a loss.  Clients are encouraged to speak to their insurance provider for information regarding their policy. 

Clients should keep the original copy of the appraisal report in a safe location. Important details about the item are often abbreviated in the actual insurance policy. Should there ever be a loss, the details included in the original report will aid in replacing the item.
